ShowcaseShowcase kicks off Asian Pacific Islander Association week during the Asian Pacific Islander Month of March. Showcase is an event that we put on to show the students of CSUMB the background, culture, and the presence that is on our campus. Showcase has evolved over the years and has become more inclusive to other organizations and students. Our showcase receives attention from students across campus that may not have seen the diversity that APIA and the API community have on this campus. Showcase is an event where students feel inclusive to the culture or club, NO MATTER WHAT BACKGROUND THEY ASSOCIATE WITH.

Holi FestivalThis is an Indian cultural celebration that is celebrated all across India. The Holi Festival brings about spring and the colors are representation of the life and renewal that spring brings. Although this is a fun and messy event that grabs the attention of students, it is a very important celebration. The significance of Holi Festival has different aspects to it which make it that much more better. There is a cultural, spiritual, and even social aspect to it all. Holi in India brings people together so that they can have a good time together and to socialize with fellow neighbors or long time friends. This is a part of what we brought to the students here. Bringing the general public to one spot where they can socialize and have a good time with their peers. Among other things about Holi, APIA takes this event to heart as it is a cultural event that we love to share with all students.

Faculty MixerThe faculty mixer is an event that brings together the API (Asian Pacific Islander) faculty members and the student body. Different API faculty are asked to speak on experiences and practices that they have gone through or do being of Asian decent. This is to get the student body aware that although faculty has more experience to share and tips for students in general, it shows many that faculty has gone through similar difficulties that many students have gone through like stereotypes or social justice issues that may pertain to a student personally. This helps students connect with our faculty and see that as we are a widely diverse campus; we all share similar obstacles that we can help each other out, no matter who you are or what ethnic race you are.

LUAULuau is a big collaborative effort with CSUMB Dinning Services to host the most authentic luau that the school can make. The Luau puts the week into one big show for everyone to watch while eating cuisine that can be found at a real luau. Luau consist of a roasting pig in front of the Dinning Commons with an explanation as to why this is a tradition practice at a celebration like luau's. It also hold performances from the APIA dance team as well as student and community partners and anyone looking to have a great time and wants to entertain with their talents. If you're ever interested in performing during luau or even MC'ing the event, feel free to let us know! We're always looking for talent and could always use the help in one of our biggest events of the year.
